Chances are if you grew up in the eighties or nineties your nightmare had a name and that name was Freddy Kreuger. I spent many a night terrified of falling asleep thinking I’d get sucked into my mattress and ripped to shreds, holding my eyes open for fear that Freddy would come. But that, of course, didn’t stop me from watching every Nightmare on Elm Street flick in the franchise, filling my brain with newand ever more terrible ways to die. Flash forward years (and years) later to the Nightmare on Elm Street Panel at Walker Stalker Con Denver, held April 2-3 2016, and the unique experience of hearing Robert Englund recount his own moment of terror when waking from a nap and meeting face to face with Freddy Kreuger, only to realize it was his own reflection in the mirror, having fallen asleep in full Freddy makeup and prosthetics. This kind of priceless moment is what makes Walker Stalker Con such a unique experience. Guests at this year’s con, the first to be held in Denver, included a number of Nightmare on Elm Street stars in addition to Englund, including Amanda Wyss, Ronee Blakly, Lisa Wilcox and Ricky Dean Logan to name a few.

And of course, the main draw of any Walker Stalker Con are the hordes (pun intended) of stars from the AMC’s The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead franchises, which for this year’s Denver con included Michael Rooker, Lennie James, John Carol Lynch, Michael Cudlitz, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Michael Traynor, Seth Gilliam and the list goes on– Over 25 TWD and FearTWD guests in all! Although quite a large con, Walker Stalker none the less has a more intimate feelbeing focused on meeting and interacting with the celebrity guests and engaging in the immersive horror experience that is Walker Stalker. In addition to celebrity meet and greets, panels and photo ops, Walker Stalker guests can take the zombie apocalypse for a spin as either a walker or a stalker in The Walking Dead Experience. And last but not least, there’s the amazing and terrifying cosplays you’ll comeface to face with throughout the con, walking nightmares from every horror fandom sure to both delight and terrify. This year’s Walker Stalker Con Denver may be a wrap, but with the enthusiasm Denver showed in welcoming this con, we’ve all got our collective fingers that the walkers and stalkers will be back to Denver next year.
